A cup and saucer made by KPM around 1832 just when they began to use the red orb mark. This style of cup is not one you see often with the outside having a blue ground color and nice gold trim with a nice handle and the saucer being the same colors but the best part is the inside bottom of the cup - there is a hand painted scene of the Altes Museum (Old museum) of Berlin.
A very early painting of it as the figures on the two walls by the stairs that have been there forever are not there yet. The museum is in fact Berlins oldest museum so it has a proper name! Built in 1830 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel Prussias most influential architect. It houses the classical Antiquities collection these days I believe. The scene is really nice as is the entire cup and saucer. The set is in great condition with just a bit of gold wear.
The cup is a bit under 1.5 inches tall plus the handle and just under 4 inches in diameter. The saucer is 0.75 inches tall and 6.25 inches in diameter. Both pieces are marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark and the usual impressed numbers.
