A superb plate made by KPM in the early 19th century right around 1800. KPM didn't use the red orb as a painter's mark yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time and sometimes a symbol that represents an individual painter as is the case here. The plate is hand painted with a really nice view of a building - looks to be some sort of estate in brown tones with a great gold trim on the blue ground rim - the blue being the very rare unglazed velvet feel type color.
My favorite color of all! The scene is very detailed with the building being the main part but there is part of another building on one side with a gate in between and some trees out front. The plate is 1.25 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter.
It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as a gold painter's mark and the usual impressed marks near the foot ring. The plate is in superb condition with very little wear. The blue ground color is lighter near the center gold ring but that is the way it was made. Some hard water stains from days past. Don't even want to know how it was used : About as good as it gets! If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Nymphenburg , Worcester and so on.
