An amazing plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. I have always wanted one of these and got lucky and got a whole set recently. The plate is hand painted with a crustacean design that covers the entire center mainly of a large lobster as well as different kinds of seaweed. The rim has a nice raised design to it with the edge basket weave design painted in a yellow ground color with a gold trim to the edge and a really nice gold trim going into the plate. Has that Art Nouveau / Jugendstil feeling to it and is just an amazing plate! The piece is in good condition with a chip to the back rim which you can only see in part of the gold edge from the front and doesn't take away from the plate when on display. It does also have six spots of wear from stacking which I colored in a bit and it displays fine now. My favorite of the bunch in terms of the subject but also the one that has the most issues sadly : The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.625 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark and the usual impressed and painter's / gilder's marks.
