Antique German Painted Porcelain Old Portrait Plaque Signed Wagner KPM Style MHR

This early 20th Century, Berlin Style enamel Painting on Porcelain oval Portrait Plaque measures 3-1/2" X 2-7/8" and shows a Beautiful Young, court Lady with Silvery Hair held away from her face with a Blue Ribbon. She is wearing a Lavender Blue dress with a low cut neckline edged with a lacy Ruffle. This Beautiful Antique, Hand Painted German Porcelain Miniature is KPM Quality and signed by "Wagner" on the lower right just above her arm. The unfinished back of the Porcelain oval is impress marked, "MHR" in a Circle together with a 2 digit number that might be "15" - we aren't sure.

We are grateful for the following. Information that was emailed to us and we share it with you.

She was considered the most beautiful woman in Europe, was intimate friends with Marie Antoinette who called her her little sister, and was an intimate of Joseph II of Austria, and Potemkin, among others. Your image is a portrait painted by Elisabeth Vigee Lebrun. The original destroyed in the Dreseden bombing. A pastel of the painting remains. This Hand Painted Plaque was found inside a Decorative Bronze Frame.

Measuring 4-1/4" high and 2-7/8" wide it has a Textured Bow on top with a rope turned frame edge. On the back there is a hinged, twisted foot that holds the frame in a standing position. Overall this Beautiful Hand Painted Porcelain is in Excellent Condition. We have inspected the surface of the Enameled Painting on the Porcelain very carefully with a Jeweler's Loupe and there are no scratches or chips. There are 3 dull spots that, although can be seen on the surface, there are no white areas of the base of the porcelain showing through the Enamel.

The frame is slightly bent on the front and back and loosely holds the porcelain. You can see from our Photo of the Porcelain in the frame, it also sits skewed so that the Bow isn't exactly at the top. There should be 4 bend down tabs on the frames edge; one is missing.

Covering the back of the Porcelain and sitting under the tabs is a Brass/Bronze oval disk. You will need to add a backing to the housing of this frame for this Porcelain to sit Securely and be displayed in it.
