The subject is a gypsy wearing a headscarf with gold coins. The plaque measures approximately 3¼ " x 2½". The painting is wonderfully executed. The plaque is in a composite frame that is presumably not original to the plaque.
The frame measures 7¾" x 7" with velvet insert on which the plaque is mounted. The back of the plaque is not accessible, so I cannot determine whether there are any markings on the back; however, the style and quality is typical of German porcelain plaques of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It appears to be unsigned. I guarantee this plaque to be 100% authentic, approximately 100 years old or older, and completely hand painted (not a transfer)!Plaque: 3¼ " x 2½ " (8,255 cm x 6,35 cm). This wonderfully decorated portrait plaque is in EXCELLENT condition with a beautiful original glaze. There are NO apparent chips, cracks, scratches or repairs. I detected no condition issues. Any white spots or lines in the photographs are from the flash and are not damage.
The plaque had a little dust on the right side in the initial photos. I've added an additional photo with more natural lighting after removing the dust (see primary photo). The new photo also more accurately reflects the colors in the plaque.
The frame also seems to be damage-free. If you have any questions about this item, please contact me.
