Antique Old Master Painting KPM Porcelain Plaque Scholar Hermit Study

This beautifully painted (no transfer) 4 1/2" diameter KPM porcelain plaque measures 8" across in its original elaborate florentine gilt wood and gold leaf frame (damaged) and depicts a scholar studying in his cell with a view to a wooded landscape visible in the background. Subtly executed in primarily sepia tones there are ruddy accents in the flesh and pale greens in the glimpse of landscape. The porcelain and painting is in excellent condition and the back bears an impressed KPM and sceptre mark, hand written notations in pencil and ink and a worn old stamp.

The frame is damaged as shown and I believe the consignor saved 90% of the loss (see pictures) so some super glue and patience should have it looking good.
