THE PORCELAIN PLAQUE IS ORNATELY HAND CRAFTED LIKE THAT OF AN OLD MASTERS PAINTING & PAINTED WITH MADONNA AND FLYING WINGED CHERUBS WITH RICH BEAUTIFUL RELIGIOUS COLORS. AN AUTHENTIC ORIGINAL KRISTEF PORCELAIN CIRCA 1885, SIGNED KPM WITH ORB SCEPTER & NUMBERED 237-158.

THE RICH PROVENANCE THIS KPM PORCELAIN SIGNED PLAQUE HAS IS FROM THE SAME GERMAN IMMIGRANT HENRY BUHL FAMILY - BUHL MANSION BUILT IN 1908 DETROIT, MICHIGAN WHICH STANDS TODAY AS A US DEPARTMENT DESIGNATED HISTORIC LANDMARK. KPM, or Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur ('Royal Porcelain Factory' in English), is Berlins oldest porcelain factory and Germanys second oldest.

It was founded in 1763 and continues to produce porcelain to this day. Centuries, KPM specialised in the production of porcelain dinner services, figurines, painted plaques, vases and more. They were particularly associated with the popular mid-18. Century Rococo style, and with its replacement by the more austere Neoclassicism of the early 19.

Antique KPM porcelain wares from these periods are widely-collected and sought-after today. Centuries, KPM was one of Europes most consistently commercially successful ceramics enterprises. It also benefited from important financial backing: first from the Prussian crown, and later from the unified German state.
