KPM style Antique Porcelain Portrait of Beatrice Cenci in gilt ormolu frame. Taffeta in the frame is in pristine condition, with some age-appropriate wear to the fabric on the back near the latches. The portrait oval measures 4.75 x 3.5, and the frame measures 8.75 x 6. The incised mark on the back of the porcelain plaque reads 13 above a capital E. The portrait is in beautiful condition, with only a slight chip on the left side of the plaque (pictured), which cannot be seen from inside the frame, except at an extreme angle. The original portrait of Beatrice Cenci is believed to have been painted by Guido Reni, an Italian artist of the 17th cen. Beatrice was sentenced to death for the killing of her abusive father by the Vatican, and her death was much protested due to the injustice she suffered. This story has made her into a legend, and thus a favorite inspiration of many artists during the time when fine porcelain paintings were being manufactured during the 18th and 19th centuries.
