Set 6 Antique Berlin Porcelain Neo Classical Pierced 24 cm Plates Ribbon/Flowers
A Set of Six (6) 18thC Antique Berlin Porcelain Neo Classical Reticulated Plates With Pink Ribbon & Flowers. Each has a reticulated, vibrant blue pierced border, enclosing an almost three dimensional circle of ribbon which winds around a metallic centre ring, encircling a bouquet of exquisitely hand painted flowers. Each oval of the pierced border trim is outlined with gold and linked with a cross of gold too, while at regular intervals, there are two unpierced ovals, each containing a motif, not dissimilar to the sceptre logo in current use. The sceptre mark in underglaze blue is present on each and dates these plates to around 1780. They measure 24 cm in Diameter (9 1/2). Excellent condition, I would guess that they have been kept unused, in cabinets for most of their existence.
