19th Century Continental Hand Painted Porcelain Plaque Elisabeth of France by Brun. Gorgeous Continental hand painted porcelain portrait plaque depicting Madame Louise-Elisabeth of France, Infante d'Espagne, Duchesse de Parme. This late 19th century rendering was inspired by a painting completed by Adélaïde Labille-Guiard (French, 1749 1803) in 1788 that was commissioned by King Louis XVI's aunts. It depicts Elisabeth, the daughter of Louis XV.

The shadows on her face may symbolize death as she died of smallpox at the age thirty-two. Framed in period bronze easel frame. Titled by hand on back of plaque. No other marks, no incised marks on the back but the work of a very talented hand on a par with the best of KPM plaques.
