A really nice reticulated plate made by KPM in the late 18th century. KPM used no painters mark like the red orb yet during this period thus you only have the blue scepter and impressed marks most of the time. The plate is hand painted with a superb scene in the center including vegetables, fruit, berries and flowers. There is a cucumber, some blackberries, a cherry, a chestnut and some sort of yellow fruit plus a few different small flowers. The edge of the well has a pair of cherries, a butterfly / bug and two flowers to it with the rim having a set of gooseberries, currants and peas as well as a bug and a flower with the edge being reticulated with a puce, green and gold trim to it. Ones rarely sees these types of decorations as most are flowers or just fruit so this is something a bit more special.
The piece is in superb condition with just the most minor of wear to the gold trim. The plate is 1.375 inches tall and 9.5 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter as well as the usual impressed number and lines marks as a size reference one finds on these early pieces.
I know the scepter looks almost modern but it is not. German Germany Gemueseszene Teller Durchbruchteller.
