A plate made by KPM in 1917 during World War I. It was hand painted in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style with a scene of a soldier sitting on a cannon in front of a Christmas tree that is all lit up holding a bomb shell in one arm and a bottle of champagne in the other. Underneath it says Weihnachten 1917 (Christmas 1917). So much for peace and so on for Christmas.A very interesting piece of porcelain with a bit of propaganda and history attached. The rim is nicely done as well not being the boring old kind but a bit wavy. The plate is in perfect condition with a small rough spot at 8 o'clock on the rim that is darker.
From the making I would guess. It is 7.875 inches in diameter and marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the red orb mark, the black iron cross of the first world war, the number 50/75 in black, the number 404.In black, two artist marks, the impressed letter Q and another impressed mark. Artillery German Germany 20thC 20th century Kriegsteller Weihnachtsteller.
