A deep soup plate made by KPM in 1891 for the personal use of Kaiser Wilhelm the Second. The rim has a basket weave design to it with a superbly gilded motif on it and the inside bowl has a large hand painted floral arrangement in it including a really nice Iris flower with four smaller floral arrangements on the rim.
What makes this piece special besides being a nicely done piece is the fact that it was made for royalty and has the Kaiser's personal monogram on the back! The plate is in decent condition with a tiny rough spot to a point on the edge, two areas where the edge was slightly ground down likely to hide a small flaw and two chips to the foot ring on which the plates sits as shown. A bit of stacking wear but all in all not a bad piece at all. It displays very well and is a nice example to have. The piece is 1.75 inches tall and has a diameter of 9 inches. It is marked underneath with the underglaze blue scepter, the red orb as well as some artist marks and impressed marks common to these pieces.
And off course the WR under a crown and the year 1891 under that. 19th century Royalty German Germany King. If you like my goodies have a look at my other auctions for a lot more top maker pieces like Vienna , Sevres and so on.
