Antique 19thC KPM Berlin Porcelain Serving Dish Tazza Porzellan Schale German
A fun serving dish made by KPM in the mid 19th century around 1840. Not something you come across often at all. It is made up of three oval plates connected by a a thick "stalk" covered with grape vines and sits on a heavy triangular base with more grape leaves and grapes on it. The entire pieces is heavily highlighted with gilding. The detail is fantastic and even though the gold wears fairly easily after almost 200 years it is still in remarkable shape. There is some minor wear but nothing that distracts and only one small chip to a scroll on the foot of the base which was gilded in to hide very well. All the pieces are connected by some sort of metal hardware which seems to be doing the trick.

A little loose but I carried it around and it held up just fine. I didn't take it apart but I seriously doubt any of the metal hardware is original. The entire piece is about 19 inches tall, the base is about 9 inches on the sides, the largest bottom plate is 12 inches wide and 8.125 inches deep, the second plate is 11.25 inches wide and 7.5 inches deep and the top plate is 9.25 by 5.75 inches. The base is marked underneath with the under glaze blue KPM with the scepter over it mark as well as the red orb mark as shown. A stunning and useful piece that you won't find again anytime soon.
