Antique Hand Painted Porcelain KPM Cup with Matching Saucer. The white ground cup is decorated with an identified German location, "Das Brochenhaus" -- a painting of a fortress/castle with a very rocky and green grass front yard. A gentleman with a cane is seen on the path leading to the doorway.
The fortress is a dark color that is set against a blue and purple sky. The scene is trimmed with a gilt band. The top, inner rim, cup handle, and base are trimmed with gilt.
The bottom part of the cup is pinched with a flared base. The handle has a nice curved shape. The slightly recessed white saucer has a gilt rim band and a thin gilt center circle. The saucer has a curved or beveled shape. The saucer is not marked. The cup appears to have the blue mark for "KPM, Royal Porcelain Manufactory, Berlin, Germany, hard paste porcelain". SIZE: Cup is 2 3/4 inches high x 3 1/2 inches wide from edge of handle to edge of rim. The saucer is 5 1/2 inches wide. CONDITION: The cup has slight gilt wear, and the saucer shows light use wear. The center, bottom part of the saucer has a large crazing or hairline mark. The inner, bottom part of the cup has pin dot marks, and a speck of raised porcelain (as made). The cup and saucer are in very good condition. There is glare in the photos.
