Antique Hutschenreuther Nude Asti GERMAN PORCELAIN PLAQUE Signed Greiner KPM

HAND PAINTED ANTIQUE GERMAN PORCELAIN PLAQUE. "Solitude" features a lovely, young, partially nude woman with long flowing wavy hair. Angelo Asti was an Italian artist who became famous in Paris for his beautiful female portraits. His portraits are highly sought after and were the subject of many German & Austrian porcelain plaques and portrait plates during the Art Nouveau period. Asti's portraits were also popular around the world on calendars from this time period. His portraits are considered by some to be the original pin-up girls. The plaque measures 7¼ " x 5".

The plaque is signed Greiner in the lower right corner of the plaque. Greiner was a well known Porcelain decorator and his name appears on a many porcelain plaques and portrait plates. The plaque is impressed "311", which references the size of the plaque, as well as "HR" inside of a circle, both of which confirm the fact that the plaque itself was manufactured by Hutschenreuther. The "HR" mark was used by Hutschenreuther prior to 1904.

The plaque is also marked Germany over the glaze. Style and quality are superb and are typical of German porcelain plaques of the late 19th century.

Even the individual hair strands are visible in the painting. I guarantee this plaque to be 100% authentic, 100 years old or older, and completely hand painted (not a transfer)! Plaque: 7¼ " x 5 " (18,4 cm x 12,7 cm). Frame: 17¼"H x 15"W x 3D. This wonderfully decorated portrait plaque is in EXCELLENT condition with a beautiful original glaze.

There is a small inconsequential scratch in the red area above the signature (see photo). Any other white spots or lines in the photographs are from the flash and/or reflections and are not damage. The inner heavily gilded wood and gesso frame is extraordinarly ornate and detailed and is in excellent condition. Both plaque and gilded frame are then enclosed in an antique wood preservation shadowbox frame. The outer frame is painted black and the paint appears to be original.

Although the shadowbox frame is physically in very good condition, it does show wear on a few high points on the frame, especially in the corners near the nail holes.
