Antique KPM Berlin Blanc de Chine Porcelain Figurine Figure Porzellan Figur
A really nice large figurine made by KPM in the early 20th century. The figure depicts the Judgement of Paris with Paris sitting to the right facing backward holding a bow in his right hand, Aphrodite in the center holding the golden apple in her left hand, a cherub in front of her holding a torch and two putti to the left side one holding a quiver with arrows and the other a single arrow. There is a ton of detail to this piece including some seashells, two birds and a dog. Doesn't get better than this from KPM of this period! This one was left in white but I also have the painted version of this model.
The figure is in superb condition with the tip of the arrow missing that the one putti is holding, a chip to one bird wing and a chip to the bottom tip of the torch. None of these are obvious at all and the piece displays superbly! The figurine is about 8.5 inches tall, 8.75 inches wide and 8.75 inches deep. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter mark as well as some incised marks of the period as shown.It has a cut mark across the scepter denoting it being a second choice likely because of a few tiny black firing spots because I see no other issue that warrants it. A stunning piece that is of a really nice size and displays superbly from all sides. Perfect for the center of a table!
