A superb large and rare figurine made by KPM in the early 20th century. It is of a dutch father and his daughter dressed in traditional clothing and hand painted to perfection! The piece is painted in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style of the period in under glaze colors that one rarely sees used. The piece was designed by Rudolf Marcuse who is very well know for his figurines though I know him more for his work at Rosenthal but also did work for KPM and a few other makers. This is a very large and unusual piece I have not seen before.
The figure is in perfect condition with the exception of a firing crack on the left side of the base from the making which was so common on these large pieces that they did not even make it a second choice piece. The figure is about 10.5 inches tall, 6.625 inches wide and 8.25 inches deep.It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter, the blue orb (used only on under glaze colored pieces) as well as the usual impressed numbers and marks and some painter's marks as shown. First choice pieces of this size are amazing and highly unusual. Not a piece you will see again anytime soon if ever! The right side of the base has the artist name impressed in it.
