A superb Art Nouveau period plate made by KPM in the early 20th century. The plate is hand painted with a pair of geese birds sitting in a landscape surrounding. They are domestic geese with the male goose being darker while the female is mostly white - quite nice and the quality of the painting is top notch!
The rim is decorated in the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style with raised gold scrolls and a slightly greenish ground color between the scrolls which is hard to see in the pictures. A truly superb plate and it is in perfect condition. The piece is 1 inch tall and 9.75 inches in diameter. It is marked underneath with the under glaze blue scepter as well as the red orb mark, their red anniversary mark for 1913, a painter's and gilder's mark, a black 2/20 and the usual impressed marks of the period plus the word Hausgaense which is the German word for common geese. Antique 20thC German Germany Gans Vogel Vogelszene Szenenteller.
