BERLIN KPM STYLE PORCELAIN PORTRAIT PLAQUE BRONZE DORE FRAME 100% HAND PAINTED. A finely painted oval antique porcelain plaque portraying a beautiful young woman with long light brown curly hair. The plaque rests in an ornate bronze dore frame and is under glass. Bronze dore is also known as gilt bronze or ormolu and is basically bronze plated with a metal alloy coating to try and imitate gold. The frame has an easel back for display in a china closet or on a shelf, or with the addition of a piece of thin wire, could be hung on the wall using the small threaded fastener that holds the back of the frame in place.

The fastener has a hole through it for that very purpose. The plaque & frame shown in my photos are the actual items you will receive. Please be sure to read the "Age and Condition" and "Approximate Dimensions" paragraphs below.

The plaque is very well painted (it is 100% hand painted) by a very skilled artist, and features a very beautiful woman. This piece has been in my personal collection since 2013. The plaque is artist signed with what appears to me to be "J Bock" on the front, at the bottom left, but this is mostly obscured by the frame. The plaque is also marked with an impressed maker's mark on the obverse, showing the maker of the porcelain to be the C.

Hutschenreuther firm of Hohenberg, Germany. This same mark is shown as mark # 2125 on page 259 of the book Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present by Robert E. Rontgen and this book states that this mark was used between 1857 and 1899. The only identifying markings I find on the metal frame are the word "FRANCE" on the back side.

A strikingly beautiful plaque, beautiful displayed in the bronze frame and in great original condition! I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability. Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.

However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures. Our store has many unique and interesting items in several different categories from 35 years of our dealing and collecting antiques and collectables. It is in excellent original condition. Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item. I see no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines or repairs to the porcelain and no evidence of use or wear to the porcelain, except for some very minor marks where the plaque has rubbed up against the frame over time and one small scratch in the subject's hair just to the left of her chin in the photos. I will also mention some tarnish & wear to the bronze dore fame (I did not try to clean it) - see the photos. Please keep in mind the photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times bigger in the photos than it really is. Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.

It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo. The porcelain plaque itself measures about 5" (12.7 cm) top to bottom by about 4" (10.2 cm) left to right. Overall, the frame is about 7.5" (19.1 cm) top to bottom by about 4.5" (11.4 cm) left to right and about.

875 (2.2 cm) in overall thickness. About 14.625 ounces (413 grams).
