Gorgeous Antique KPM Porcelain Plaque. Professionally Appraised, Authenticated, and Signed by the Artist. Maker : Konigliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (German, officially founded 1763); KPM. Gugel studied (beginning in) 1852 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He exhibited his works in the Munich Glass Palace in 1869, 1871, 1883 and 1884.

His works are in the collections of the Neue Pinakothek in Munich. (from the appraisal): One painted rectangular porcelain plaque with a glossy finish. The plaque depicts a semi-nude young woman seated in a landscape wearing a transparent white gown.

She gazes at the viewer with blue eyes and a slight smile as she holds in her lap a bouquet of multicolored flowers, their centers dotted with accents of gold. Her blond hair is also crowned with a garland of gold-accented blossoms and is pulled away from her face to fall in soft curls behind her right shoulder.

A grassy field with occasional wildflowers and a wooded area can be seen in the background. The plaque is mounted on cream linen and housed in a decorative gold-colored frame, with the stamped portion of the verso exposed through an opening. Dimensions : Height: 9 13/16 inches x Width: 7 1/2 inches; Framed: Height: 15 1/2 inches x Width: 12 7/8 inches. Gugel"; lower right impressed marks on verso include "K.

" with scepter, "255 195, " arrow mark and "h. " Also on verso: "Made in Germany stamp in red. Please note that this piece was appraised professionally in 2014 (see photos) by MIR Appraisal Services, Chicago, IL. It is likely that the artist's name is misspelled as C. Gagel" -- instead of "C.
