KPM Berlin Cherub Riding a Dolphin Brown & Gold Empire Form Cup & Saucer C. 1840s Nice antique mid 19th century German porcelain empire form cup and saucer. The cup has a white cherub riding a Neoclassical cherub opposite the handle. The cup and saucer both have a brown background with a white bead design below a gilded edge. The cup is marked on the bottom with a blue underglaze scepter mark above KPM. This mark was used between 1837 and 1844. The saucer is marked on the bottom with the blue hand painted scepter used by KPM Berlin, as well as the Konenigliche Porzellan Manufactur in blue. This mark was used by KPM Berlin between 1847 and 1849. Has some wear to the gilding and some wear to the brown around the center / well of the saucer, but otherwise good condition. The cup measures approximately 3 3/4 inches wide including the handle x 2 7/8 inches tall. The saucer measures approximately 5 3/4 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
