Exquisite German Berlin KPM hand painted oval plaque of the Virgin Mary holding the young C..... This painting is styled after a 17th century Old Master painting. A halo is visible above the head of Mary and the child. The porcelain is impressed with KPM and Scepter on the reverse. The Berlin Factory (KPM-Konigliche Porzellan-Manufactur) was founded in 1763.
The factory is known for producing porcelain plaques in the latter part of the 19th century. The Berlin factory's mark is a scepter. The porcelain oval is 10 inches in length with the widest part 7 inches. Overall, the antique frame with the plaque is 13.5 inches tall by 11.1 inches wide.
