Presented is a very fine antique, German porcelain centerpiece basket made during the late1800s. The piece is hand painted with fruit and strawberry blossoms, and hand gilded throughout the basket openwork and to accent fruit and leaf designs at the handle junctures.
The two cross-strap twig or vine handles are also accented with gilt for textured detail. The bottom of the basket is stamped with KPM maker's marks including the blue scepter.
KPM is on a very short list of the best porcelain companies in the world, and one of the two best in Germany. This piece is in superb condition.
The porcelain rings like a bell and the entire piece shows extraordinary quality in every detail! The basket measures 13 1/4 by 10 inches and is 4 inches tall at the handles.
